Alpine has developed a multiple camera system to improve visibility around a vehicle, which is additionally linked to a navigation database to add further functionality. Although the first prototypes have been developed using passenger cars, the company believes the technology has far greater potential applied to commercial vehicles and buses.

EBS enhancements from Wabco

Wabco has introduced two technological enhancements for its electronic braking systems (EBS) for truck and trailer combinations. The two developments are designed to improve the performance of braking systems fitted to extra long trailers and also truck and trailer combinations where two or more trailers are used.

Fuel economy and safety—and more accurately, improvements in those two areas—are the main drivers behind a subscription-based service that GreenRoad Technologies offers to drivers and fleet operators to help improve driving behavior. “It’s a combination of real-time feedback with a suite of Web-based applications... with the result being a 10% improvement in fuel economy and 50% reduction in crashes,” said GreenRoad's Eric Weiss.
